Determination of Critical Micelle Concentration of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate in Distilled Water at 298.15K by Surface Tension Measurements

نویسندگان

چکیده

Surfactants are chemicals that adsorb to the interface between a solution and another phase (gases or solids) self-assemble molecular clusters known as micelles in (water oil phase). Measurements of surface tension sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) distilled water at 298.15K reported. The increase concentration then decreased 298.15K. Critical micelle (CMC) with decrease tension. graphs versus were made determine CMC solution.

Salinity Effect on the Surfactant Critical Micelle Concentration through Surface Tension Measurement

One of the tertiary methods for enhanced oil recovery (EOR) is the injection of chemicals into oil reservoirs, and surface active agents (surfactants) are among the most used chemicals. Surfactants lead to increased oil production by decreasing interfacial tension (IFT) between oil and the injected water and to the wettability alteration of the oil reservoir rock. Since surfactants are predomin...

Surface tension model for surfactant solutions at the critical micelle concentration.

A model for the limiting surface tension of surfactant solutions (surface tension at and above the critical micelle concentration, cmc) was developed. This model takes advantage of the equilibrium between the surfactant molecules on the liquid/vacuum surface and in micelles in the bulk at the cmc. An approximate analytical equation for the surface tension at the cmc was obtained. The derived eq...

Micelle Formation in Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate and Dodecyltrimethylammonium Bromide at Different Temperatures

In an aqueous medium, both pure and mixed surfactants form micelles after reaching a concentration called the critical micellar concentration (CMC), whose determination has considerable practical importance normally to understand the self-organizing behaviors of surfactants in exact and detailed ways. Many studies have been devoted to the elucidation of micellar structures under different condi...

Growth of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Micelles with Detergent Concentration

Sodium alkyl sulfate micelles are predicted to grow as a power law of the total counterion salt concentration, Yaq, in the aqueous phase as follows: NA = K~(Y~~)Y, where N A is the micelle aggregation number and ~2 and y are constants which are estimated from the critical micelle concentration and the apparent degree of counterion attachment. For sodium dodecyl sulfate, NA = 162(Y,q)1/4 is pred...
